Mabati (sheet metal) is my signature material. It is associated with the Mabati Women Groups of the 1960s in central Kenya. This was a progressive women's movement which organized to replace their grass thatch roofs with durable mabati. This act of social activism elevated the socioeconomics of central Kenya
